Johnnie Walker began in 1820 when John Walker started selling whisky in his small grocery shop in Kilmarnock, Scotland. After his death in 1857, his son Alexander took over and introduced the signature square bottle and angled label. The brand’s iconic “striding man” logo was created in 1908, and coloured labels were introduced to distinguish different blends. Throughout the 20th century, Johnnie Walker grew to become one of the world’s most recognised Scotch whisky brands and is now sold in over 180 countries across the world.
