In 1864, Jack Newton Daniel left home and was taken in by Reverend Dan Call. At the Call family farm, he learned the art of whiskey making from the preacher and an enslaved man named Nathan “Nearest” Green. Jack later hired Nearest as the Jack Daniel Distillery’s head distiller, what we now call the Master Distiller. In 1864, Jack introduced the world to Old No. 7, his signature charcoal-mellowed Tennessee Whiskey.

As the new decade unfolded in 2020, a fresh era dawned at Jack Daniel’s with a new Master Distiller at the helm. Chris Fletcher assumed the prestigious role, guiding Mr Jack’s legacy and whiskey into the future.

It’s only ready when the tasters say it is. They judge it by the way it looks, by its aroma, and, of course, by the way it tastes. 

Jack Daniel’s Gentleman Jack 700mL

• Tasting notes: Liquorice-led palate with oak, cinnamon, and a touch of banana.
• Colour: Amber.
• Aroma: Spicy nose with caramel, charred oak and a little aniseed.

Jack Daniel’s Gentleman Jack is a smooth and sophisticated whiskey, perfect for enjoying neat or on the rocks. It has a distinctively rich flavour with notes of vanilla and spice. Gentleman Jack is a premium version of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey. The main difference is that it enjoys a ‘double mellowing’ as it’s filtered through charcoal before being filled into the barrel (the Lincoln County Process) and once again before it’s bottled.

Quick Facts:

• Frank Sinatra is a legendary fan of Jack Daniel’s – and was even buried with a bottle.
• Every bottle of Jack Daniel’s is made with water from the Cave Spring.
• At the distillery, there are over 2.2 million (200L) barrels of whiskey maturing at any given point. If you were to lay these barrels down end-on-end, they would continue for over 3,300 kilometres!
• Jasper “Jack” Daniel was indeed a real man and was taught how to make whiskey by a Lutheran Minister called Dan Call. Jack registered the distillery at the age of just 16. He stood only 5 foot 2 when full-grown but became a giant in the whiskey industry. He died in 1911 after complications from kicking his safe in frustration.
