Wine of the Month | Special $19.99, Ends 17th July 2022

An intriguing blend originating in the southern Rhône, creating a bright, berry-filled red with a dash of spice.

Introduction

Just 50-minute drive south-east of Perth, Millbrook is like an oasis from the hustle and bustle of city life. Tucked away in the Perth Hills near Jarrahdale, Millbrook is a boutique winery and award-winning restaurant. The property is located at picturesque Chestnut Farm, nestled among jarrah forests with stunning vistas of the rolling landscape. The farm dates back to the 19th century when the original owner planted an orchard and grapevines in 1865.

About

In 1996 Peter and Lee Fogarty, together with their three teenage children, planted the first vines at Millbrook.
Construction of the winery commenced in 1999 and it is now a stunning home to the modern winemaking facility, barrel halls, tasting room and restaurant. The building features local timber and granite rock sourced from the property. There is even a natural watercourse with a mix of bountiful springs, dams and an expansive lake. Millbrook is committed to sustaining this valuable resource and protecting and enhancing its very special environment.

As well as crafting exceptional wines from the 8 hectares of predominantly Rhône varietals planted at the property, Millbrook Winemaker Emma Gillespie is also passionate about celebrating some of the alternative varietals from vineyards across Western Australia’s best winegrowing regions. From this desire the Millbrook Regional Range was born.

Alongside Chief Viticulturalist John Fogarty, Emma sources fruit of exceptionally high quality from expert growers across the state. In this way, the Regional Range encompasses seven vibrant, expressive wines, handcrafted from exceptional fruit from diverse wine regions, such as Perth Hills, Margaret River, Geographe, Great Southern and Swan Valley.

Origin

Crafted from selected fruit from exceptional vineyards across Geographe and the Great Southern regions of Western Australia’s southwest corner.

Tasting Notes

This is a vibrant deep purple wine, with lifted violet and red-berry fruit aromas and a touch of peppery spice.
Medium-bodied, vibrant and with soft silky tannins, this wine shows off the plush, red raspberry and floral nature of
Grenache with the Shiraz and splash of Mourvèdre adding warm spice, plum and cherry notes. A sumptuous,
moreish wine that persists on the palate.
Try it with wagyu beef sliders, pickles and tomato.
Quote
“Highly floral perfume aromas lead into the juicy, bright red berry-dominated palate. Lively and high energy with a spicy, dried herb lift carrying it through to a long finish. The palate is plush and supple with a rich, textured feel. Lip-smacking finish.”
